The beautiful Islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino
 The Maltese Islands lie in the centre of Mediterranean Europe, 93 km south of Sicily and 300 km north of Africa. The archipelago is made up of mainland Malta, Gozo, Comino and Cominotto. Together, the Islands make up a mere 316sq km. Malta, the largest island is only 27 km at its longest point, from north-west to south-east, and 14.5 km at its widest point, from east to west.
Malta’s climate is strongly influenced by the sea and is typical of the Mediterranean. The islands have a very sunny climate with a daily average of five to six hours sunshine in mid-winter to more than 12 hours in summer. Winters are mild, with the occasional short, chilly period brought about by the north and north-easterly winds from central Europe. Summers are hot, dry and very sunny. |
